Bobbi Block is an experiential Coach and Facilitator with a unique background in both training and the performing arts, specializing in Leadership, Collaboration, Creativity and Presentation Skills Development. In addition to her independent consulting work, Bobbi is a Senior Affiliate with The Ariel Group, an award-winning training and development firm that uses theatrical approaches to teach Leadership Presence and authentic connection. Through The Ariel Group, Bobbi delivers intensive seminars to high-level executives from Fortune 500 companies around the globe. In addition, Bobbi is an independent consultant for The Wharton School’s Aresty Institute of Executive Education, and Temple University’s Training and Development Department. She teaches and performs Improvisational Theatre in Philadelphia and is an Adjunct Professor in the Theatre Department at Temple University and Drexel University. Before her current work as a consultant, Bobbi worked for Team Builders Plus, an international Training and Development firm in the Philadelphia area, where she complemented her interactive theatre methodology with all forms of experiential learning approaches. At Team Builders Plus Bobbi worked extensively with communication assessment tools including The DiSC, and served a variety of client levels and industries. Bobbi began her training career by teaching teambuilding skills to corporate groups utilizing improvisational theatre techniques she acquired through producing, performing and teaching with ComedySportz Improvisational Theatre Company.Bobbi received two Bachelor's degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, one in English and one in Development through Creative Expression. She received a Masters degree in Theatre from Villanova University, and trained with master improvisers in Chicago and NYC at renowned theatre centers such as Second City, ImprovOlympic, the Annoyance Theatre, Upright Citizens Brigade theatre, and the New Actors Workshop. In addition to co-founding and performing with Barrymore Award-winning ComedySportz Philadelphia for 17 years, Bobbi founded and is the Artistic Director of the unique reality-based spontaneous theater company, Tongue & Groove. She is a founding member of the acclaimed longform improv group, LunchLady Doris, and performed with the interdisciplinary improv company Playback Philadelphia. Bobbi co-founded and performed with the body percussion troupe People Percussion Project, and plays drums in the Brazilian percussion troupe Unidos de Filadelfia. In addition to currently teaching at Temple and Drexel Universities, Bobbi has taught Improvisation at numerous theatres and colleges including The Wilma Theatre, University of Pennsylvania, The Wharton School, University of the Arts, and Villanova University. She works extensively with Philadelphia Young Playwrights, teaching playwriting to young people and training teachers and teaching artists on the integration of theatre in the classroom, and from whom she received the Adele Magner Memorial Award for excellence in Collaborative Teaching.
